Voice over IP is starting to become a major industry, which is making mass-market telephony possible. All this means is that now Voice over IP users can now make and receive calls just like someone using a traditional phone line would. Voice over IP companies are offering calling plans like many traditional phone companies and mobile phone companies.

Voice over IP has become much more common in the corporate world as compared to home usage. This seems to be true mainly because businesses can utilize having only one class of circuit connection plus with the added benefit of better bandwidth use. By doing this businesses can now eliminate third-party costs completely while obtaining their own gateways.

There is now Voice over IP Amateur Radio available. You have the ability to create huge repeater networks with repeaters from all around the world, even though some people can only access the system with actual ham radios.

Voice over IP users can also use a service called click-to-call. The click-to-call service just allows you the ability to push a button and be able to automatically talk to a customer service representative. You can either call right through to the representative or leave your number so a representative can call you right back. To add to all that the click-to-call service will monitor for companies when people switch from their website to a phone sales channel.

Also people who are into podcasting will be happy to know that Voice over IP telephony is becoming more commonly used with podcasters. This is mostly because people are finding it easier for recording and saving money as compared to traditional telephone calls.
